Harmon, Reginald Carl, 1900-1992

Reginald Carl Harmon (b. 1900, Olney, Ill.-d. Oct. 19, 1992), U.S. Air Force officer, began his military career in the ROTC at the University of Illinois, received his commission in 1926, and finished law school the following year. He was called to active duty in 1940, and through the war years was in charge of the legal representation of the U.S. government in the industrial expansion program to meet the needs of the Army Air Corps. In 1948 the President of the U.S. appointed him as the first judge advocate general of the U.S. Air Force, and in 1950 he established the first Air Force Judge Advocate General's School, developing a special curriculum to train military lawyers. He retired in April 1960.
