Biographical History

John Graham, circa 1718-1795, was a merchant, planter, Lieutenant Governor of the Province of Georgia, and a loyalist during the American Revolution.

John Graham (ca. 1718-1795) was a Lieutenant Governor of Georgia (information found in Major Butler's Legacy, by Malcolm Bell). Pierce Butler (1744-1822) was born in Ireland but later made his home in Charleston, South Carolina, where he married Mary Middleton, the daughter of Thomas Middleton. He was a major in the British Army, but resigned his commission before the Revolutionary War. He was adjutant general of the State of South Carolina, a representative in the state legislature, a representative to the Federal Constitutional Convention, and a U.S. Senator, 1789-1796 and 1802-1804. He died in Philadelphia in 1822.
