Biographical History

The Cleveland Chamber Symphony has been bringing new commissions of classical music as well as neglected, older works to audiences since 1980. Founded by composer Edwin London, former music faculty at Cleveland State University, the group began as an orchestra-in-residence program at Cleveland State University and in 2004 moved to Baldwin-Wallace College College Conservatory of Music, where it is now directed by Steven Smith. The unique mission of the Cleveland Chamber Symphony is to "commission, perform, record and promote the dissemination of musical works exclusively by composers of our time."
