Biographical History

This congregation was organized on May 3, 1940 with Rev. Olaf Anderson presiding. Land was purchased on the north side of town, for the church site by the 25 charter families. The first services and Sunday School were held in the AOUW Hall. On November 11, 1941, the cornerstone was laid for a new church which was to cost $6,000. Services were held in the completed basement until April 6, 1944, when the church was completed.

In 1963 the name of the congregation was changed from First American Lutheran to Grace Lutheran to eliminate confusion of names. In that same year a parish unit was added, and dedication took place on the 25th anniversary, October 9, 1965.
