Biographical History
Otto von Stülpnagel (b. June 16, 1878, Berlin, Germany-d. Feb. 6, 1948, Paris, France) was the German military commander of France during World War II. He was an opponent of the “Final Solution” and refused Hitler's order to burn Paris in anticipation of Allied liberation of the city in August 1944. He committed suicide in his prison cell while awaiting trail for war crimes.
