Biographical History

Moses Aaron Richardson was a prominent publisher in the United Kingdom who emigrated to Australia in 1850, taking passage on board the sailing ship 'Clifton', which was charted under the auspices of the Reverend John Dunmore Lang. As there were limited opportunities to pursue business as a publisher in Australia during that time period, Richardson turned to other lines of business, including owning a timber yard, building houses and investing in property and land. His son, George Bouchier Richardson, emigrated to Australia in 1854 and was well-known as an artist. George Richardson was also employed as a journalist and an editor in Victoria and South Australia.

From the description of Life of M.A. Richardson in England and Australia by his Granddaughter, Florence Emily Todd, 1908, 2011 [Typescript]. 1908-2011. (Libraries Australia). WorldCat record id: 759741271
