Biographical History

Cozzens was the daughter of Charles Levi and Angie (Chapman) Hinckley Redding Cozzens. Her mother was born in Damariscotta, Me., and in 1879 married Francis M. Hinckley, a sea captain. They sailed almost immediately for Holland and Singapore, a voyage that was described in her memoir written in 1885. She later divorced Hinckley and married M.T. Redding. After his death she married Charles Cozzens, a banker in New York. She died of a miscarriage in 1898. Evangeline Cozzens was an artist and the owner of the Redding Masonic Supply Company in New York.
