Biographical History

Catholic women's study club in Fargo, N.D. Organized 1923, named after Orestes A. Brownson, preacher, journalist, and philosopher. Three study circles were organized, in 1933, as affiliates of Brownson Study Club No. 3; they were St. Mary's parish, St. Anthony of Padua's parish, Fargo, N.D., and St. Joseph's parish, Moorhead, Minn. Its purpose is to study subjects pertaining to Catholic beliefs and practices, to develop a spirit of higher Catholic inquiry among members and to become informed on the important issues of the day so as to be able to discuss them intelligently from a Catholic viewpoint.
