Biographical History

Philanthropic institution and school located on West 16th street in New York City. During most of its existence, the instition gave employment to needy women by teaching them to sew, and to make clothing on individual order, or for other charities. After its merger with Greenwich House in 1951, it trained elderly people for modern employment, e.g., typing and secretarial skills.
