Son of Charles and Hannah (Shepard) Biddle, born in Philadelphia, Mar. 2, 1796; died in White Sulphur Springs, Va., Aug. 25, 1859. He married Eliza F. Bradish and they had four children. Biddle attended Princeton College; enlisted 2 lieutenant, 3 Art., July 6, 1812; 1 lieutenant, Mar. 13, 1813; captain 42 Inf., Oct. 1, 1813; asst. insp. general with rank of major, June 19, 1817-June 1, 1821; paymaster and Indian agent, Green Bay, Wis., 1821-22; register of Detroit land office, 1823-37; mayor of Detroit, 1827-28; M.T. delegate to Congress, 1829-31; president M.T. Constitutional Convention, 1835; wrote many pamphlets on Michigan. (from Cong. Dir. 1928) (Blue index cards)
