Biographical History

Bess Pauline Wolf (1892-1989) attended the University of Arkansas and graduated in the Class of 1911. She was an enthusiastic member of the girls' basketball team and participated in dramatic productions and the usual student activities. Her first teaching job was presumably at Parkdale, Arkansas, where she taught Expression and literature in 1911-1912. By 1914 she had received an Arkansas teachers' certificate for Normal Training and taught at Mena, Arkansas. In 1918 she married E.L. Romans, in Checotah, Oklahoma, where she might have been teaching English. The couple settled in Fayetteville, and eventually they celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
