Jones, Allen, 1847-1916.

Born in Hillsboro (Orange County, N.C.); son of Cadwallader Jones (1813-1899) and Ann Isabella Iredell (1816-1897), and brother of Iredell Jones (1842-1914). During Civil War, served in Confederate Army as private in Company H, 12th S.C. Infantry.

After the war he served as Treasurer of three textile factories in Lexington County, S.C.: Saxe-Gotha Mills, Lexington Manufacturing Company, and Middleburg Mills, and as president of Palmetto Mills in Columbia, S.C.; married Augusta Henrietta Porcher (1852-1939) the daughter of Augustus Henry Porcher (1820-1851) and Elizabeth Marion Dubose (1829-1895) on 15 October 1874.
