Biographical History
E. T. Becher, historian, taught at Rogers High School in Spokane from 1934 to 1967. In addition, he wrote many books and articles on the history of Spokane, including Spokane Corona: Eras and Empires. He was born in Iowa and graduated from the University of Idaho in 1927. He received his masters degree from the University of Washington in 1932 and began teaching at Rogers High School that year. He also served as social studies director for Spokane School District #81. He died in Spokane in 1994.
Edmund T. Becher taught history at John Rogers High School in Spokane. A pioneer of the study of Pacific Northwest history, he enlarged and developed the subject in the Spokane public schools. Through his works, including a nationally televised documentary on the Spokane Indians and authorship of the book "Spokane Corona" (published in 1974), has became a recognized authority on the Pacific Northwest.
