Biographical History
Lallemand served Napoleon and Louis XVIII. In 1816, he fled from France to the United States. He led an expedition of French refugees up the Trinity River where they established a fort, Champ d'Asile, in 1818 in support of Joseph Bonaparte. Under Spanish pressure, the French fled the fort and Lallemand returned to the United States where he remained until 1830 when he went to France. There he rejoined the French forces and held a command until his death.
