Biographical History

Pauline Jones was born May 9, 1904, in Huntsville, Alabama. Her parents were George Walter and Evalena (Moore) Jones. She married Bennie William Gandrud on November 29, 1930. She had one son, William Bentley Gardner. She studied at Peabody Conservatory from 1922-1924. A well-known genealogist, she sold copies of her Alabama records to libraries and other institutions; bound copies of her findings were also published.

Mrs. Gandrud had lived in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for fifty years when she died in September 1980.

She was the younger sister of Walter Bryan Jones, Alabama State Geologist and head of the Alabama Museum of Natural History.
