The Alf Engen Ski Museum formally opened on July 5, 2002. The mission of the Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center/ Alf Engen Ski Museum is to preserve the rich history of skiing in the Intermountain region by providing a world-class facility which highlights the many contributions made in ski area development, athletic competition, snow safety, ski innovation, and ski teaching methods.
The Alf Engen Ski Museum formally opened on 5 July 2002. The Alf Engen Ski Museum and the 2002 Winter Olympic Gallery are housed in the Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center, located in the Utah Olympic Park. For the Olympic Winter Games of 2002, the Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center and the Alf Engen Museum were turned over to the Salt Lake Organizing Committee to be used as a media sub-center, housing more than 400 members of the media during the games. The overall mission of the Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center/Alf Engen Ski Museum is to preserve the rich history of skiing in the Intermountain region by providing a world-class facility which highlights the many contributions made in ski area development, athletic competition, snow safety, ski innovation, and ski teaching methods.
