Horace Chilton was a U.S. senator from Texas (1891-1892, 1895-1901). Donelson Caffery was a planter in St. Mary Parish, La., state senator for St. Mary Parish (1892-1894), and U.S. senator from Louisiana (1893-1901).
Horace Chilton (1853-1932) was born near Tyler, Texas. After studying law and being admitted to the Texas bar in 1872, Chilton worked as a lawyer, served as an assistant attorney general of Texas (1881-1883), a delegate to Democratic National Conventions of 1888 and 1896, and a U. S. Senator from 1891 to 1892 and 1895 to 1901.
