Biographical History
Charles C. Tillotson (1880-1957) was a prominent inventor, engineer, and architect born in Olathe, KS. He relocated to Arizona where he became an engineer for the City of Phoenix and was also involved in the planning and construction of the Marble Canyon & Boulder Dams. Tillotson was a tireless advocate for Arizona's equal rights to its fair share of Colorado River water and became president of the Colorado Verde Association upon his retirement as an engineer. In this position he fought for completion of the Colorado Verde Project, the aim of which was to use Colorado River water for power generation and making arable 4 million acres of land in southwest Arizona.
This collection contains materials generated by the Colorado Verde Association, whose purpose was to promote the development of a comprehensive project for the fullest and most economical use of all available water of the Colorado River for irrigation and power for the greatest possible benefit to the State of Arizona.
