Biographical History
A native of Pennsylvania, Baker moved to Evansville, Ind. in 1841 to practice law. During the Civil War, he was a colonel with the 1st Indiana Cavalry. As a politician Baker served as a state representative, lieutenant governor, and governor. After his term as governor, Baker practiced law with the firm of Baker, Hord & Hendricks.
