Biographical History
Rayburn Moore (1920-2006), son of Max Sabatsky Moore (1895-1979) and Sammie Lou Rayburn Moore, was born in Helena, Arkansas. He attended Hendrix College (Conway, Arkansas), Vanderbilt University, and Duke University. He was inducted into the Army in 1942 and stationed at several camps including Camp Ellis (IL). In 1943 he graduated from an officer candidate school (Army Administration School No. 3 in Gainesville, Florida) and was sent to the Philippines in 1945. Rayburn Moore was a Captain in the Adjuant General's Department. He married Margaret Bear in 1947. He was later a professor of English at the University of Georgia and the author/editor of several books.
