Biographical History

The Texas Folklore Society was founded on December 29, 1909 in Dallas, by Leonidas Warren Payne and John Avery Lomax, with the purpose of preserving and presenting Texas folklore. The organization is now located at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches, Texas.
