Albert Way, correspondent and antiquary, was born at Bath. He was privately educated and after earning his degree at Trinity College Cambridge, he joined the Society of Antiquaries. Way devoted his energies fully to the work of the Society and in 1843, he became its director. He executed many projects including the making of a catalogue of the museum of the Society. His efforts to make the Society more scientific met with disagreement which resulted in his forming the Archaeological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland in 1845. Way wrote numerous articles for The.

Journal of the Institute. He was an excellent correspondent and is most known for his letters from inquiries all over Europe.
