Biographical History
English poet.
Scottish poet.
John Davidson was a minor Victorian author known mainly for his poetry. He was associated with The Rhymer's Club, the "Tragic generation," and contributed to the Yellow Book. He was the first to translate Nietzsche into English (albeit from a French translation) and the influences of Nietzschean philosophy on his later poems proved unpopular. He committed suicide at the age of fifty-one.
