Biographical History

Koppel Shub Pinson (1904-1961) was an American educator and historian who specialized in German and Jewish history. He taught at Queens College of the City University of New York from 1937 to 1961.

Born in Postawy, Lithuania on February 11, 1904, Koppel Pinson came to the United States with his parents in 1907. He received his doctorate in history at Columbia University in 1934 and taught from 1934 to 1961 at various branches of the City University of New York. Pinson's academic specialty was German history, and he was active in assisting refugee scholars during the 1930s. He died in New York City in 1961.
