Biographical History
The Scottish Free Church divine, author, and historian James Stalker was born in Crieff on 21 February 1848. He studied at Edinburgh University and at Halle and Berlin, and also at New College, Edinburgh. He became Minister of St. Brycedale Church, Kirkcaldy, in 1874, and then of St. Matthew's, Glasgow, 1887. Stalker lectured at Yale in 1891, in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1904, and in Richmond, Virginia, in 1914. He was Professor of Church History in the United Free Church College, Aberdeen, 1902. Professor the Reverend James Stalker died on 5 February 1927.
