Biographical History

William A. Banks taught school at Graves' Mill in the 1850s. He subsequently founded the Texas Agricultural and Mechanical College. His parents were Joel and Polly Henderson Banks.

Linn Banks was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, 1813-39, speaker of the House, 1817-39, and U.S. Congressman, 1839-42. He drowned in 1842.

Asa W. Graves was a doctor, according to the 1850 census.

Strickler and Graves were Merchants in 1850.

Angus R. Blakey was a lawyer in Madison and Albemarle counties, Virginia.
