Biographical History
Perry Bullard was born September 2, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio. He received a bachelor's degree from Harvard in 1964. From 1964 until 1968 he served in the United States Navy. Returning to civilian life, he entered the law school of the University of Michigan, from which he graduated in 1970. In 1971 he became the law clerk to Justice Paul Adams of the Michigan Supreme Court. In November 1972 he was elected to the Michigan House of Representatives. He won re-election in the 1974, 1976, 1978, 1980, 1982, 1984, 1986, 1988 and 1990 elections. In 1981, Bullard became Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. While in the House, Bullard sponsored more than 100 bills that were enacted into law. Among them were the Open Meetings Act and the state Freedom of Information Act.
In 1992, Bullard decided not to seek reelection to the House and instead ran unsuccessfully for judge of the 15th District Court.
He died October 15, 1998.
