George Sundborg (b. 1913), journalist and author, was editorial writer for the "Daily Alaska Empire" in Juneau (1939-1941), regional director of the National Resources Planning Board (1941-1943), assistant director of the U.S. State Department's North Pacific Planning Project (1943-1944), industrial analyst with the Bonneville Power Administration (1944-1946), general manager of the Alaska Development Board (1946-1947, 1951-1953), executive assistant to Governor Gruening and consultant to the Development Board (1947-1951), editor-publisher-owner of the "Juneau Independent" (1953-1957), editor of the "Fairbanks News Miner" (1957-1958), delegate to the Alaska Constitutional Convention (1955-1956), administrative assistant to U.S. Senator Gruening (1956-1968), and assistant to the director of the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation in the U.S. Department of the Interior (1969-1973). He is the author of "Opportunity in Alaska," "Hail Columbia," and "Facts About Statehood for Alaska."
