Biographical History
Albert Sidney Foley was born in 1912, and died at the age of 78 in 1990 at Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama. The Jesuit priest was known for his work for racial justice in Alabama throughout the Civil Rights Movement. At the time of his death, he was Director of the Human Relations Center at Spring Hill College as well as Director of a job training program to serve Mobile's disadvantaged. He worked at Spring Hill College since 1953, and founded the Sociology and Psychology departments at the college. He also wrote several books on African American Catholics, including: "Bishop Healy: Beloved Outcast" (1954), "God's Men of Color: The Colored Catholic Priests of the United States", 1854-1954 (1955) and "Dream of an Outcast: Patrick Healy, S.J." (1976).
