Biographical History

Robert S. Bliss was born on August 1, 1805. He served with the Mormon Battalion in the US Army from 1846-1847.

The Mormon Battalion was a volunteer company of the US Army consisting of about 500 members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It marched from Council Bluffs, Iowa, to San Diego, California, during the Mexican-American War.
