Biographical History
As general editor at Chappell Music, Lee Snider was responsible for the design and editing of Kurt Weill in America : a folio of 50 songs celebrating the 75th anniversary of Kurt Weill's birth, 1900-1975.
This publication played an important role in furthering the awareness and appreciation of Weill's music in the English-speaking world, for which reason Lenya, as executrix of Weill's estate, very much appreciated it. She was careful to maintain friendly relations with Snider even after he left Chappell to work as a photographer.
Lee Snider has been a successful photographer for over three decades. His work has appeared in major magazines, newspapers, and in countless books, calendars, and other forms of editorial media. His photography is represented by four major photo stock agencies, Corbis Images, The Image Works, Veer Marketplace and Dreamstime, and he has an impressive photo library of over 1,000,000 images taken in Asia, Canada, Europe, and the United States. His business associate and partner is the Chinese photographer Mr. Xu Lei of Sichuan Province.
As part of his photo-journalism work, Lee has covered many New York City events that have transpired in the history of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender community since 1977, when he first became a professional photographer.
