Biographical History

As general editor at Chappell Music, Lee Snider was responsible for the design and editing of Kurt Weill in America : a folio of 50 songs celebrating the 75th anniversary of Kurt Weill's birth, 1900-1975.

This publication played an important role in furthering the awareness and appreciation of Weill's music in the English-speaking world, for which reason Lenya, as executrix of Weill's estate, very much appreciated it. She was careful to maintain friendly relations with Snider even after he left Chappell to work as a photographer.

From the description of Documents relating to Lotte Lenya and to the songbook Kurt Weill in America, 1975-1978. (Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison). WorldCat record id: 122469684
