Biographical History

Arnold G. Tripp, of West Falmouth, Massachusetts, sailed to California in 1849 on the ship Florida from New Bedford, Massachusetts. He was a member of the Accushnett Building and Mining Association which went to San Francisco to sell lumber and construction services. He left the company in March 1850 and went to mine on Solomons Creek off the Mercedes River.

Tripp did not last long at the diggings and, in general, from July 1850 to November 1851 he worked as a carpenter in Stockton. In July and August of 1851 he again tried gold mining on the Mercedes River in Mariposa County.

From the description of Letters : to his wife Susan Tripp, 1849-1851. (Unknown). WorldCat record id: 702132512
