Biographical History

Ignatius Few (ca. 1750-1810) married Mary Candler, daughter of Colonel William Candler who fought in the King's Mountain Battle. Their son, Dr. Ignatius Few, Jr. was the first president of Emory University.

William Few (1748-1828) was the brother of Ignatius Few, Sr. William was Lieutenant Colonel of the Georgia Militia during the Revolutionary War. He was a signer of the United States Constitution and one of Georgia's first two United States Senators. He also helped found the University of Georgia.
