Biographical History

The Steele, Nicholson, and McKay families were prominent in Indianapolis and connected by marriage. Theodore L. Steele is the son of Helen McKay and Brandt Steele, and the grandson of artist T.C. Steele. An industrial architect, Steele retired from Eli Lilly and Co. in 1970. With Selma N. Steele and Wilbur D. Peat, he wrote THE HOUSE OF THE SINGING WINDS, about the life and work of T.C. Steele.
