Bloodgood Haviland Cutter (1817-1906) was a New York poet who published several collections of poems in the mid-late 1800's. The manuscripts in this collection were published under the title The Long Island farmer's poems, New York, 1886. Bloodgood Cutter came to public notice when Mark Twain published his Innocents Abroad, the tale of the first modern pleasure cruise on the steamer Quaker City; Cutter was one of the passengers. Several of the poems in this manuscript collection appear to have been inspired by his travels.
