Biographical History
U.S. Indian Agent, mine operator, businessman, probation officer, and journalist, George W. Ingalls lived and worked in several western states from 1870 to 1915.
In the 1870's Ingalls served as U.S. Indian Agent for Nevada, Utah, and southeastern California and was later appointed agent for the Consolidated Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw, and Seminole Indian tribes. During the next three decades, he had contact with various tribes and personally knew many prominent chiefs. Ingalls settled in Nevada in the early 1900's and devoted his remaining years to writing articles about his Indian experiences.
