Bronson (1801-1844) came to Chicago for the first time in the winter of 1832-1833 from New York; made contact with Robert A. Kinzie, and soon with other leading land-owners as well.

Arthur Bronson was born on Jan. 14, 1801 in New York (City), the seventh child of Isaac and Anna (Olcott) Bronson. He was an attorney, land speculator, money lender, and promoter of westward expansion. On Nov. 20, 1823 he married Anna Eliza Bailey. Together they had three children. Arthur died on Nov. 19, 1844 of pneumonia. (Information from reel 1 of 30 of the Bronson Family Papers.).
