Captain of the 21st. Regiment of Royal North British Fusiliers, Commandant at Port Arthur Penal Settlement, 1833-1844, Superintendent at the Queen's Orphan School, 1844-1846.
Captain Charles O'Hara Booth (1800-1851) was commandant of the convict stations on Tasman's Peninsula, Tasmania, from 1833 until 1844, when he was appointed superintendent of the Queen's Orphan School. While at Port Arthur he established a semaphore signalling system between stations on the Peninsula and Hobart.
