Biographical History
Early in 1944, the Board of Home Missions of the Augustana Lutheran Church had identified the need for a new church in the growing community of North Ballard. Rev. Rober Pearson, called as an organizing missionary, started conducting services in the Loyal Heights School on September 13, 1944, where worship and church school were held for two years.
October 12th was the official date of organization, with the Bethel Lutheran Congregation relocating and uniting with the mission. At the first congregational meeting a name was selected, the constitution adopted, and a building program recommended.
The dedication of the first sanctuary took place in September of 1946. The second unit was begun in 1952 to provide for the rapidly expanding congregation. In 1972 additional facilities were completed. During the years of growth a strong Youth Ministry was developed, along with special ventures in Adult Education.
