Biographical History
On 6 Sept. 1940 a group of internees, the majority Jewish, arrived in Australia on board the ship Dunera. They had been transported from England at the height of Britain's fight for survival against Nazi Germany. These men were interned in Australia as enemy aliens until 1941 when they were released. Many remained to serve in the Australian Army and to become major contributors to the growth and development of Australia at all levels of society.
