John Jay Almy (1815-1895), Rear Admiral, U.S. Navy.
Union naval officer serving as commander of the steamer South Carolina (South Atlantic Squadron, 1862) and of the Connecticut (1863 to 1864).
Naval officer.
John Jay Almy, naval officer, served as a lieutenant in the USS Ohio in the Mexican War. In 1857, he was CO of the USS Fulton off Nicaragua when William Walker surrendered. He blockaded Southern ports during the Civil War.
