U.S. Army officer; b. East Auburn, Me.; retired as Brig. General in 1940 and lived in Kentucky; buried in Auburn, Me.
Born 1876. Enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1898; commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in 1898; retired in 1940 as a Brigadier General. Career highlights include service in the Philippine Insurrection (1898-1901), in Panama during construction of the Canal (1912-1916), and on the Mexican border (1916); as Chief of Staff of the 37th Division in France and Belguim (1917-1918); as Inspector General for the Army in Hawaii (1927-1930); and as Commander of the Washington Provisional Brigade (1937-1938). During World War II, served as head of Civilian Defense in the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Died 1957.
