The Chicago Railroad Fair, held during the summers of 1948 and 1949, was organized through the efforts of the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, Illinois, and its president, Lenox Riley Lohr (1891-1968). It celebrated the centennial of railroading from Chicago westward. The Fair was sponsored by U.S. railroad companies who contributed funds.
