Biographical History
Charleston and St. James Goose Creek Parish, S.C. plantation owner, architect, and South Carolina state representative. He was the son of Peter Manigault (1731-1773) and Elizabeth Wragg. He married Margaret Izard in 1785. In 1805 Gabriel Manigault sold part of his South Carolina property and moved permanently to Clifton, an estate near Philadelphia (Pa.).
Charleston and St. James Goose Creek Parish, S.C. merchant, plantation owner, architect, and South Carolina state Representative. He was the son of Peter Manigault (1731-1773) and Elizabeth Wragg. His wife was Margaret Izard, daughter of Ralph Izard. In 1805 Gabriel Manigault sold part of his property in South Carolina and moved to Clifton, an estate near Philadelphia (Pa.). He died in Philadelphia in 1809.
