Captain Samuel Darwin Whitney was born October 18, 1804 in Hinesburg, Vermont and died May 8, 1852 in Williston, Vermont. He was the son of Paul Whitney and Dollie Darwin. Samuel and Clarrissa/Clarisa Reed/Read (1804-1874), were married on February 10, 1828 in Shelburne, Vermont. amuel and Clarisa had six children (Ellen, George, Albert, Marion, Martha, and Francis), and were living in Williston, Vermont in 1850 according to the United States Census.
