Biographical History

Richard Charles "Dick" Gedney was a soldier during WWII. He was the son of Clarence S. Gedney and E.H. Gedney of Buffalo, New York. He served as a private in Company D, 3118th Signal Service Battalion, which was attached to the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force. Gedney was stationed in England and then at Paris before returning to England and entering a hospital. From there, he went to the United States (U.S.) and was in convalescent hospitals at Camp Patrick Henry, Virginia, and Camp Edwards, Massachusetts. He married his sweetheart, Martha Joan Hawkins of Kenmore, New York, after returning to the U.S.
