Biographical History
Leon Carroll Marshall was a professor, Institute of Law, The Johns Hopkins University and was a well-known educator in the field of commerce and administration.
He was born in Zanesville, Ohio in 1879 and educated at the Ohio Wesleyan University and Harvard. From 1907 to 1928, Marshall held various positions at the University of Chicago including dean of the graduate school of business. He was appointed to Hopkins in 1928 to become professor of law and director of the Institute of Law until its closing in 1933. In 1934, President Franklin Roosevelt selected Marshall to be a member of the National Labor Board and the National Recovery Administration. Marshall left Hopkins in 1939 and ended his academic career in 1948 when he retired from American University. Leon Carroll Marshal died in 1966 in Bethesda.
