Biography
Albert Francis Bush was born January 20, 1916 in Boise, Idaho; as a high school student and college undergraduate, worked with Topographic Mapping Division of U.S. Geographical Survey in Idaho and Montana; in 1940 received BA in civil engineering from Stanford University, and joined Pacific Board of Fire Underwriters in Los Angeles; from 1941-43, he worked for the firm of Leeds, Hill, Barnard and Jewett, and for the U.S. War Department; from 1943-49 was industrial hygiene engineer for the California Department of Public Health; MS in Public Health Engineering from Harvard University in 1947; joined faculty of UCLA College of Engineering in 1949, becoming full professor in 1960; also taught in the UCLA Public Health Department; active in American Society of Civil Engineers, American Public Health Association, American Society for Engineering Education, American Industrial Hygiene Association, and Water Pollution Control Federation; served for 14 years on Board of Directors of Metropolitan Water District of Southern California; died August 29, 1976 in Idaho.
