Biographical History

The publishing firm of Lockwood & Co was established by Mark Lockwood in the early nineteenth century at 7 Stationers Hall Court. On his death in the 1850s his son Crosby Lockwood took over the running of the company and eventually changed the name of the firm to Crosby Lockwood & Co.

The firm specialized in books on a wide range of technical subjects, school books and popular literature and continued until 1972 when it was taken over by Granada Publishing.
