Biographical History

Gemini VII was launched on December 4, 1965, with Frank Borman serving as commander of the mission and James A. Lovell serving as pilot. The primary objective of the Gemini VII mission was to evaluate the effects of a 14-day mission on crew. The secondary objectives of the Gemini VII mission included targeting for Gemini VI-A; stationkeeping with Gemini VI-A and with the second stage of the Gemini launch vehicle (GLV); conducting 20 experiments; evaluating the lightweight pressure suit; evaluating spacecraft re-entry capability; and conducting systems tests. The primary objective of the Gemini VII mission was achieved, as were all of the secondary objectives. Gemini VII landed on December 18, 1965, 11.8 km from its attempted landing zone.
